Its More Tech, But Notable Tech!
There have been a couple items that have come out, or have been announced in the past month that have caught my eye. This is my quick rundown of Notable Tech October 2015 edition!
Ever said to yourself that “I like my phone, but I wish it looked more like a gaming device”? Well, the Brass over at Acer read your minds, and will be coming out with a 6” Predator Phone! The specs are not written in stone as of yet, but they seem to include a Decacore Mediatek Helio X20 SoC, and a 4,000 mAh battery. If you like the aesthetics of the Predator line then its metal armor may be to your liking. This not so little smartphone “should” come preloaded with the latest Android distro, and with any luck will be as competitively priced as it’s Predator 8” tablet counterpart.
Bought a shiny new MSI Z170A Gaming Titanium Edition motherboard, but can’t seem to OC it high enough? Well EK Water Blocks has got you “Covered” with its new EK-FB Z170A XPOWER TE Monoblock! Like their previous Monoblock it covers not just the CPU, it also replaces the factory MOSFET heatsink. This means that both the CPU and the power regulation modules will be part of the liquid cooling loop. It has the potential to increase you maximum OC; although keep in mind that not all CPUs are created equal, and therefore max OC may vary!
You bought your shiny new Flagship Smartphone, and were all happy with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop! Then all of a sudden you see Nexus phones getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and your Smartphone lost some of it’s luster! Fear not, as long as you have an LG G4 that is. The LG G4 will be the first non Nexus phone to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow. LG G4 owners in Poland will be the first to receive the update with other countries following shortly thereafter. Android 6.0 Marshmallow itself gives the user more control over app permissions, and better standby battery life as it shuts down all background processes when enabled. Look for the LG G4 Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the coming weeks!
Zotac has SSDs for sale? Yes, Zotac the company most of us know for their video cards like the “GTX 980 ti AMP!” will now be launching a “Premium Edition SSD” series. At present time there are two models: ZTSSD-A5P-480-PE, and ZTSSD-A5P-2400G-PE. These two models are 480GB and 240GB respectively. Both models will feature:
- Phison S10 controller
- MLC NAND
- 520 MB/s Sequential Read
- 500 MB/s Sequential Write
- 3 year Warranty
The 480GB model will come with 512 MB DDR3 while the 240GB version will have half as much DRAM. The MSRP of both models have yet to be announced. With the stiff competition in the SSD market right now Zotac will have to WOW us in order to gain market share!
